The Regatta Experience
at Fawley Court

Every summer, Henley plays host to world class rowers on its banks.

The prestige of the occasion is unparalleled. The Henley Royal Regatta is the oldest in the world, dating back to 1839, and the only one to be under the patronage of HM The Queen. This has elevated its status as a key event in the English high society calendar.

The Henley Royal Regatta predates any international competitions. A set of quirky rules must be strictly adhered to: in each "heat" only two crews row upstream, battling the vagaries of both tides and weather.

The race takes place on the only straight mile stretch on the Thames. An umpire notes the halfway time and bellows "At Fawley!" as the crews pass the midpoint at Fawley Court.
